All City Writers - Carhartt

The title ALL CITY WRITERS describes a vast research project on the writing movement, focussing particularly on the process of its exportation from New York to the whole of Europe during the 80s. International crews, fanzine networks, inter-rail travelling are, among others, key chapters in which writers have become protagonists.

The whole project developed from the consideration that many of the stories that writers experience are just lost in time. Other than the pictures of their pieces, the adventures, and sensations a writer lives through often just disappear like so many other bits of oral culture. For that reason, ALL CITY WRITTERS contains the largest contribution of texts ever published in this field.

ALL CITY WRITERS tries to document the evolution and the consequences of a countercultural phenomenon that over the course of a few decades provoked a change in the aesthetics and the rules of communication of modern day society.

ALL CITY WRITERS is a heavy-weight of graffiti literature and that not just in terms of the actual size and weight of the book

White Carrara Marble Cinderella Table

Jeroen Verhoeven’s graduation project from the Design Academy Eindhoven is considered to be an extremely important example of how technology can be used to create a truly breathtaking spectacle. The result of a study into how high tech machinery could be used in the field of product design, sketches of old furniture were put into a computer that translated them into a drawing that could only be created in the digital world. The Cinderella table morphs the outline of a baroque table on one side into a bombe commode on another at 90 degrees to one another. The original design is made possible through the use of a 5 axis CNC milling machine.

Cinderella is about attention and the possibility to make something unique with an intelligent machine that is normally used for mass production,” explains Jeroen. “I had a labor-intensive decorative table, modelled after seventeenth-century furniture, industrially manufactured. We had to push the machines to their limits to do it. But it’s worth it.”

The Cinderella Table (Carrara Marble), edition of 6, made in Carrara marble exclusively for Carpenters Workshop Gallery, London is a continuation of Jeroen’s plywood version and can be seen as coming full-circle on his initial project ‘From Fantasy to Factory’. Jeroen returns to the artistic by using the medium of marble; emphasised by the fact that staturio marble is one of the purest marbles available and for all sculptors has been the perfect medium to express their art, Jeroen’s rediscovery of craftsmanship within an industrial process has therefore been resolved. The table lines and elegant curves combined with the ductile qualities of the staturio marble make it seem almost organic, as if the stone has a life of its own.”

La Cie by STARCK

The LaCie Starck Mobile Hard Drive is the result of a collaboration between LaCie and world-famous designer Philippe Starck. Its sturdy 2mm of aluminum casing keeps the LaCie Starck from overheating, and helps it to be very resistant, enhancing its overall dependability. The polished aluminum exterior is stylish and tough, but also light enough to transport, making the LaCie Starck both completely chic and completely mobile.

A convenient aspect of the LaCie Starck is its embedded USB cable, which allows you to maximize its compact nature and portability. It’s easy to extract your cable, as well as coil it back inside of the drive. In addition, it guarantees that you’ll never lose your USB cable—a feature that underscores Philippe Starck’s commitment to practical and usable design.

Bags of fun - Mulberry x Apple

Designed by Mulberry…made for Apple! From Sunday 1 November you will find a very special collection of Mulberry bags made especially for Apple’s best-sellers. The MacBook Pro, iPhone, iPod, and iPod Nano have all been given special fashion treatment with laptop bags, laptop sleeves and mini cross-body bags.

The nine-piece collection features interpretations of our favourite Mulberry icons such as the Bayswater for women and the Brynmore for men. The coveted exteriors of the bags remain, making the styles instantly recognisable. The inside of the bags has been enhanced with features such as padded laptop sections, phone and music player pockets and eyelet holes for headphone access.
Deciding to do the collaboration was a no-brainer for Mac fanatic Emma Hill, Mulberry's Creative Director. "Apple products are too beautiful to reside in drab bags! Apple and Mulberry share a legacy of craftsmanship,” she says, “and I'm thrilled that we were asked to be Apple's first luxury collaboration.”

Getting Shirty - Gitman Vintage

Gitman Vintage is an American heritage sport-shirt and neckwear line that pays tribute to its past, but with a distinct difference. While continuing to honor the importance of a finely crafted button-down oxford and the indispensable pinpoint, the design team at Gitman dusted off old line books to curate an authentic interpretation of the past by selectively appropriating their favorite fabrics and having them remade (Spring/Summer 2010, for example, is recreated from Spring/Summer 1984).

The line also recreates le mode retro details, including original double-track stitching, chalk buttons, locker-loops, box-pleats and is reissued with the original "Gitman Bros. Est 1978" label.

Available now from Dover street market, End Clothing, and Oi Polloi in the UK
